My friend Ellen is returning to Ct. having completed her time at Mayo. Mixed feelings for her, to return to her family, but to start looking for more work.
The time home was good - Visiting the Scoutguys who where teaching the district youth leadership course was great, I felt I belonged again. Good to see my family - and fix that dumb toilet. My non paying renters had replaced the gasket under the tank with silicone caulk, which flaked into the little holes around the rim - which left too little flow to do the job.
Work is ok, no word on any sort of extension. No word on any other leads at this time. Umpa is still taking care of the sale of the camper. I will be home the weekend of 10/2

Long Weekend...
Plane Trip Friday, 6-10 and return Tuesday afternoon. When work seems to be less stressful - the rest gets worse. On the plus side, I negotiated a raise this week. Will be nice when it appears on a paycheck. Found out my housing offers a monthly rate, should save 2-400 a month...
But this too will pass.
Prayers for Dan B. as well - in the hospital for appendicitis, I think.

Can you go home again?
Went back to Elk River (ER!) this weekend - to catch up with three families (ok, 4). Stayed with my friends the Millers (who plan a trip east, having lived in Ct. for a time) - Nice to see and wrestle thier four kids - and like home the "Wizards of Waverly Place" seemed to be on the whole time! It was nice to sit up in the evening and talk, and Saturday during the day I ran errands. Shades of my Mom - I got my haircut when I made the trip "home" Like she used to on trips down from Vt. to Ct.
I visited with the Manzi's, which was neat - the girls looked great, and PJ has even more hope than I do, in spite of the fact he's been completely out of work since we got laid off. I will be praying for a productive second interview for him and his wife this week.
Then I drove by the house and dropped of the garage door opener - I guess they moved in Friday night, but weren't around. It looked fine.
Stopped to see the Kaluza's but they were busy, John is going to post is Boundary waters trip photos soon. One of the things I wanted to do in Minn. that we never got to do.
Spent the evening with the Hewitts - It was great, the twins and K. talked nonstop for the first 45 minutes. It was a great evening, BBQ ribs, and Rich and Bert.
Then back to Millers, then to ERUMC - but the pastor was out of town, It was good to worship, I figure it's the second church service I've attended since early June.

Westward Bound.
Friday afternoon I will drive back to Elk River, for the weekend - Not just to pick up presents for Nate either. Will be staying with the Millers, and spend Saturday afternoon with the Hewetts.
The Elk River house closed as well. It sold short, someone got a great deal.

Local Tandem Job
Since my friend Rick had surgery, I've been figuring they'd need another programmer/analyst at St. Vincents in Bridgeport. As vulturish as it seems, they have like, three Nasdaq-ians there, and it's in Connecticut, not Wisconsin! I just hoped for a heads up - But instead I looked up another NASDAQian - co-worker and he starts in September at St. Vincents Hospital.
I don't know how I didn't see the opportunity, and feel like like I missed something rare, that could let me be home.

Work...
I realized I've spent over one year since October of 2006 living in a hotel. How do you even pretend to be a good involved parent from there? Or Scouter? Or maintain your accountability, and involvement in a church life?
