Christmas

It was good. Beachers in St. Augustine was nice, could see the ocean right out the windows, opened Christmas presents under my lame palm Christmas tree in my parents room – got some books. Setup the Wii in my bedroom at the hotel – and we sang and played lego rock band on our new guitar hero band set for hours. Then played sports resort – mostly watching the boys fly around and around the island ( a little like the sortie of pelicans that pass the balcony ever hour or so). Boys jumped in the heated pool – and then we took the Durango out on the beach – No one told N. that the ocean was cold so he played in it for probably 45 minutes, amazing. Dinner was at a snooty restaurant down the shore at a nice country club, good food – N. had chicken tenders there as well.

Saturday we walked through old St. Augustine – parking was a pain, but it was cute cobblestoned streets, little shops – we tried alligator tail, and toured the castle, then rode the Ripley train trough town. It was chilly and when we got close to the minigolf place (free with train tix!) we jumped off and played a round S. started with a hole in one and N. was winning after the first nine holes – but I stormed back to be the gracious winner. We eat at Sonny’s BBQ which was ok, S. liked it, it was all you could eat. Back to the rooms to pack the cars.

Bunga and Umpa also provided a day at one of the theme parks – and I debated where to go for a while. Busch Gardens was closest to our final destination Tampa/Largo – but we’d need to drive 4 hours to reach it the try and get our money’s worth from tickets – We looked for someplace where we could see alligators, maybe a airboat ride or Orlando. It was decided to go back to the Magic Kingdom – since N. didn’t remember it and we would be sure to hit the high points since we knew our way around. It was a crowded, and wet day, but we arrived (steamship) to see the 11:00 parade, then Swiss Family Robinsons tree house – the went through the new pirates of the Caribbean ride. Lunch in Pecos Bills was a fiasco , not enough tables. We then wandered toward tomorrowland – which is where we ended our day around 8pm. Dropped my parents at the hotel near the airport and then off to the camper.

Christmas Travels

C. and the boys are in Pa. step one of their trip south. Bunga and Umpa arrive tomorrow night, and we all gather in St. Augustine Thursday afternoon. Presents are wrapped, Chex mix (Dad Style) is made (and half eaten).

Work is fine - taking forever to get the project going, I have some busywork which is better than sitting trying to look busy.

Potential visit

Started Christmas shopping today- figuring it's easy to hide things 1300 miles away. Ironically I discovered my flights to Ct. for either 12/10 or 12/17 - would be over $300. But if reversed, C. could get down here for like $230... Now it's a matter of figuring out if we can get coverage for Logan, S. will be at Camp Workcoeman - but the boys would need someone to get them off to school Monday and Tuesday...

We'll see.

Back to Florida

Thanksgiving is over - Went to C.'s family for Thanksgiving. It's interesting how that dynamic has changed over the last 25 years, It was the cousin's kids (pre teen) at first, now those three have about 8 kids between them (blended families). Saturday, instead of going out to Winsted (no power) - my parents came here, with turkey and ham, it was a good day, although I didn't find Kevin online. C. went to her 25th reunion at the Elks in the evening, she had a good time - I spent the evening with the boys. Church was ok on Sunday, the god thing is it does feel like home - and I saw the betrothed Jaimee and Mike! Scooter came over and hung out in the afternoon - and when I dropped of D. for his MYF thanksgiving dinner, went out with Scott, and was reminded that although we're peers, his grandpa stuff is something I'm glad not to deal with yet!

Going to stop and get a tooth looked at, and then grandma will drive me to the airport.

Holiday News

1 - Thanksgiving, I leave Wed. for home, will be in town through Monday. C. has us going to Wallyworld for Thanksgiving day, Ugh. Then she has her 25th HS Reunion Saturday, I'm going to spend the day/evening with my parents for Thanksgiving instead.

2 - Christmas, My family is driving down, and my parents are flying down. We will spend the holiday in St. Augustine at a hotel on the beach. Flights home were expensive, and I couldn't afford to miss the 3 days of work, so everyone is adjusting and coming down here.

3 - Windy today, getting bombed by acorns on the roof of the camper all day/night. Yes - It's sunny, I'm in shorts and flip flops.

Update...

I've been working now for a week in Tampa/St. Pete - I live in the camper in Vacation Village in Largo. I will go back to CT. next Wednesday, thru Monday for Thanksgiving.

Been talking over plans for Christmas - realizing that the flights for that week are ridiculous, and I'd only work basically only 3 days out of a pay period. So I suggested that they come down here, so we can spend more time together. We are working toward possibly spending Christmas in St. Augustine - then back to the camper so I can work, then someplace else, for the 1st, and then they could drive north from there.

First Day

Made the trip from Ct. made it down to Fredrick Del. - where coincidentally, C. thought we could stop for the night. Borrowed my friends dolly (car dolly) to tow the mazda behind the camper. One of the straps that ties the wheels down went. But I was in front of an autoparts store and bought a tow strap, that I was able to use to fix the trailer.

Drove from Fredrick, Del. to Jacksonville, Fl. and slept in a Walmart parking lot. Made it to the campground by 2 the next day. Parked the camper, went shopping.

Started work this morning - have a cube, 4th floor of tower 1. Seems ok, company structured a little better than my previous employer. Big shop too.

C. is here 'till Wed. lunchtime. May see the beach tomorrow.

Goodbye, Wisconsin

Umpa arrived, one hour late - and I took him to the boy's favorite store, American Science and Surplus, then checked in and went to Texas Roadhouse. I cann't remember the last good steak I had, it is not something you order when trying (slightly) to be frugal.
Our intent is to be on the road around 8 am. That puts us in Cleveland around 3 pm or so. And then 3 hours more and we hole up near State College. Maybe I'll get a chance to see (or have breakfast) with me Nieces and Nephew.

Then it's home by 3 in the afternoon.

Last Day

Wrote the goodbye email - brought cookies. My friends took me out for chinese food, it turns out that Diane (sat behind me for a while) is leaving as well - has an opportunity to work from home, sounds like a great deal for her, nearer her horses.

This week's tasks...

1) Get decent trailer - the one at Fleet Farm was cheap, and HD and Menards don't carry any in stock.
2) Pack stuff
3) Get C. a plane ride home from TPA --> to the New England (<> $110)
4) Look at rides for Thanksgiving...
5) Book hotel room near State College for Sat-Sunday ($85) about 10 hours out.
6) T.'s house is around 7 hours out. Probably stop for a snack.
7) Already booked Umpa's room here...

8) plan out trip south
9) Setup RV
10) Register all vehicles...When in CT.

Goodbyes..

I started saying goodbyes today - I have a week to go, but one of my friends from work is off all next week. Will pick up trailer tomorrow and screw in the deck.

Florida News...

So few opportunities - A contract pops up at Raymond James in Tampa/St. Pete 6 months ok rate. They put in my resume Thursday night - and respond Tuesday, for an interview Thursday morning - got an offer today to start 11/2. Last day in Wisconsin is 10/30 - and umpa is flying in to drive with me next week.

I accepted, and asked if I could start later in the month, they compromised on the 9th. Thinking about driving the RV down there and living in it. It would be cheaper, and might be funner.

Rcv'd much encouragement from FB - reminding me what the priority is. God this sucks... More news to follow as I figure out the short term agenda. At the moment thinking of driving to CT - to spend the week there - and then RV and car to Fl. maybe with DS - and have her fly back to CT (Umpa's plan). We'd miss wedding in NY - but would meet other goals. So 20 years later we'd retrace half our honeymoon route...

Done in Wisc.

Will not be extended again - met with the resource manager, my last day is 10/30 - So I'm off looking for more work. If there is a FT position for my DS, then I look for anything in Ct. Otherwise it's Tandem/NonStop work, almost anywhere.

What a day...

Went home for my birthday - Caught a "free" as in lunch plane flight from my friends for the weekend. Didn't count on Chicago Friday traffic, left Menonomee Falls at 4:15, to drive 79 miles - and was 6 miles from O'Hare at 6:00 but did get parked until after 7, and after the tram, the TSA and the length of the terminal - I arrived at my gate to find the door closed (but I have 2 minutes, I whined). But they'd given my seat to standby people. Next flight, 9:15 Saturday morning. Distressed passenger rate for a room at the Holiday Inn $65. Parking at the airport is $16 a day - so once my head cleared - I figured I'd be better off at Country Inn and Suites in Bensonville - the hotel we used when we flew out for Nanna's funeral in March. Drove over there, and used thier shuttle to get back and forth.
Weekend was fine, Dinner one night at Bunga and Umpa's - marked the end of summer by taking off the ragtop of the Jeep, and helped a little emptying the garage... Fixed the shower at the house, went to town hall to check on the property lines. The birthday was fine, went to Round Table, had cake - so it was good.

Big fright though that nite, N. work up gasping and coughing at 2 - sounding a little like me when I had Whooping cough a while back. Very frightening, C. took him off the the ER - It was a very long 15 minutes, until they called. They were back at 4 (I'm sure because she has lent out her house key). He's much better, diagnosed with Croup (He seems a little old for it). I blame the boys film project on Sunday that meant they were outside in the rain or in the basement filming a reenactment of one of the Star Wars episodes...

Bye Ellen - Welcome home...

My friend Ellen is returning to Ct. having completed her time at Mayo. Mixed feelings for her, to return to her family, but to start looking for more work.

The time home was good - Visiting the Scoutguys who where teaching the district youth leadership course was great, I felt I belonged again. Good to see my family - and fix that dumb toilet. My non paying renters had replaced the gasket under the tank with silicone caulk, which flaked into the little holes around the rim - which left too little flow to do the job.

Work is ok, no word on any sort of extension. No word on any other leads at this time. Umpa is still taking care of the sale of the camper. I will be home the weekend of 10/2

Thursday, September 3, 2009

Long Weekend...

Plane Trip Friday, 6-10 and return Tuesday afternoon. When work seems to be less stressful - the rest gets worse. On the plus side, I negotiated a raise this week. Will be nice when it appears on a paycheck. Found out my housing offers a monthly rate, should save 2-400 a month...

But this too will pass.

Prayers for Dan B. as well - in the hospital for appendicitis, I think.

Can you go home again?

Went back to Elk River (ER!) this weekend - to catch up with three families (ok, 4). Stayed with my friends the Millers (who plan a trip east, having lived in Ct. for a time) - Nice to see and wrestle thier four kids - and like home the "Wizards of Waverly Place" seemed to be on the whole time! It was nice to sit up in the evening and talk, and Saturday during the day I ran errands. Shades of my Mom - I got my haircut when I made the trip "home" Like she used to on trips down from Vt. to Ct.

I visited with the Manzi's, which was neat - the girls looked great, and PJ has even more hope than I do, in spite of the fact he's been completely out of work since we got laid off. I will be praying for a productive second interview for him and his wife this week.

Then I drove by the house and dropped of the garage door opener - I guess they moved in Friday night, but weren't around. It looked fine.

Stopped to see the Kaluza's but they were busy, John is going to post is Boundary waters trip photos soon. One of the things I wanted to do in Minn. that we never got to do.

Spent the evening with the Hewitts - It was great, the twins and K. talked nonstop for the first 45 minutes. It was a great evening, BBQ ribs, and Rich and Bert.

Then back to Millers, then to ERUMC - but the pastor was out of town, It was good to worship, I figure it's the second church service I've attended since early June.

Thursday, August 27, 2009

Westward Bound.

Friday afternoon I will drive back to Elk River, for the weekend - Not just to pick up presents for Nate either. Will be staying with the Millers, and spend Saturday afternoon with the Hewetts.

The Elk River house closed as well. It sold short, someone got a great deal.

Local Tandem Job

Since my friend Rick had surgery, I've been figuring they'd need another programmer/analyst at St. Vincents in Bridgeport. As vulturish as it seems, they have like, three Nasdaq-ians there, and it's in Connecticut, not Wisconsin! I just hoped for a heads up - But instead I looked up another NASDAQian - co-worker and he starts in September at St. Vincents Hospital.

I don't know how I didn't see the opportunity, and feel like like I missed something rare, that could let me be home.

Work...

I realized I've spent over one year since October of 2006 living in a hotel. How do you even pretend to be a good involved parent from there? Or Scouter? Or maintain your accountability, and involvement in a church life?

RV Camper - Time for it to go...

2002 SHASTA 29' MOTORHOME

This 2002 Shasta Freeport 250 Class ‘C’ RV is built on a Ford F-350 chassis, and powered by a workhorse Triton V-10 gas engine, with pulling capacity to spare.

The unit sleeps 6 with a rear Queen walk-around bed, and lots of storage. The A/C was new in 08’ and all the factory equipment is in good working order.

Mileage is 86,700+ and overall condition is very good. Motor is sound and well maintained.

Original cost of this unit is over $73,000, and current NADA lists $21,000-26,000 as low and average retail.

Asking price is $19,500.00 for this very solid RV with lots of good times left.

Homeward bound...August

Tomorrow, a coworker will drop me at the airport, I'll be home until Tuesday afternoon. C. has decided she needs to chaperone the exchange students to NY - So I will be going with N. to CW Day Camp, it will be strange to to be back, but without a role.

Got a call from my resource manager today - asking why I thought I was out as of the end of the month. Jeez - because I was told there was only work for me until the end of August, It's why U. was flying out to tag team drive my car (with a trailer holding bike) back to Ct. So no, I must have misheard, my last day will still be end of October.

EOK plans

Need to get to Toms Trailers and pick up one before the end of the month. Umpa called - and will pick up a ticket and be here to drive home.

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

August

1) Kevin turns 40 this month!
2) Back in Menonomee Falls for one more month. Now looking/worrying for what's next. Another contract? Where will it be? How long, and what would the dynamics of my house be when I returned.
3) Planning for the ride back to Ct. in a couple of weeks. Probably buying a trailer to bring home the motorcycle, cheaper then renting a trailer.
4) Thinking about one more trip to ER, before I drive home.
5) Prayers are still for C. and that she'd finally find her opportunity.
6) C. has chosen to take in TWO (2!) French exchange students for the next 3 weeks. American cultural immersion, and they'll get to go to CW day camp.

Time in Wisconsin

Got a call from my resource manager ('cuz we're not people, we're resources). My original last day (End of August) is back on. I was extended, briefly, until Halloween - but when my project assignments changed... This still may change again - if more project managers need me prior to Sept. 1.

It's good to know.

According to S. - I don't update enough

N. - is man about house. Rode a horse and buggy with Bunga. Needs to make a plan for her room.

Troop 3 starts their week at CW next Saturday (D. included).

In town Friday night - Tuesday afternoon.

Monday, July 20, 2009

Got much done around the house. My Dad's been amazing, It was great to work with Lorance for a while (glazing windows). Will reach out to Mark ( for the boys sake, and for Lorance's) For next trip.

Will add more later...

Monday, July 13, 2009

Another week..

1) I went to start the motorcycle, and it won't.
2) Spent weekend beating crap out of myself, for screwing up the opportunity of my work.
3) Did laundry, learned more about Civ3. boy is that a time suck.
4) Fly to Ct. Friday 7:40, Return to Wisc. Tuesday PM.
5) Bought season 2 of Night Court, and a book or two.

Friday, July 10, 2009

Weekend...

Was all set to go on a charter boat on Lake Michigan - But it fell through, know I don't know how I'll spend the weekend. Should call CRC and see if they have an opening sooner, rather than later.

Wednesday, July 8, 2009

Back in Wisc.

Left as POD 2 showed up, and POD 3 arrived around the time I left CT. I arrived in my layover in Cleveland - but the crew for my return leg didn't show up until 11 (3 hours late) and I didn't get to my car/hotel room until 12:30.

Work isn't going well (suddenly) and I may be on another project (or home entirely) in another month. Prayers would be appreciated. That's all I can say about that.

C. says the PODs got unloaded today and everything came into the house - I can't wait to see that.

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

Stupid Podders...

It is now ten of two. I've had help here for an hour and a half with nothing to do. I leave in two hours for the airport. Arghhh...

Monday, July 6, 2009

Tomorrow I return to Cheeseland...

Both PODs show up after 12:30 - With helpers. I will have to leave with the move incomplete, at 4, for a takeoff of 6. I arrive in Milwaukee after 9... And the garages, and the driveway are still full of crap from the non-paying renter. Met the attorney today, will take next steps shortly... Not a lot of hope for much justice though.

Wandered around my house (which only sort of feels like mine) realizing just how much time my father has spent fixing this house, for the relo offer from (T. - way too much extra work, for a bad offer) - prepping for sale, and the setting up for the renters, and now for me... He looks really tired. As well he should.

Sunday, July 5, 2009

Sunday (7/5)

Church was really nice - a flashback to 1995 or so.

Dinner at In-laws, always good. Worked on House, mantle looks better, cabinet doors rehung, D.'s room done. N.'s room is ok.

A POD will show up tomorrow - got a few friends coming, will get it done and ready for the big push Tuesday, the other two PODS.

Saturday, July 4, 2009

Saturday (7/4)

Faucet fixed (yeah - Umpa), D. room painted (yeah Grandma), N. room almost painted (yeah Cindy). LR (trim).

Most importantly, S. is with us - Looks wonderful, is engaged in his new job, looks forward to returning tomorrow.

Left the Bikes behind Grandpa's house - since they were hanging off the camper, and truck, and they were stolen out of his backyard! Eight bikes (yes we have a lot of bikes), police came and took a statement.

Friday, July 3, 2009

Updates to the House

1) Squatter finally vacated the house (but not the garage, yard)
2) POD will deliver some Monday and the rest Tuesday.
3) Neat to see people that mean, we're home.

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Now - in Torrington

Setup Bank accounts, visited the in-laws, and got the squatter out of the house (but not the yard). Can not BELIEVE she will be my next door neighbor! That is insane! Got the house emptied, it needs two windows fixed, is missing at least a dozen light bulbs, and some minor electrical work. Will assess paint, and touch up tomorrow.

POD people will now deliver at least one on Monday, and the other (rest) on Tuesday. A small victory - but a victory none the less.

Pastor George is back in Bakersville this Sunday as well, could be really cool, or just poignant.

And my Dad and Mom's....Loaders give me a call (Roberts already booked to help (according to Darlene)!

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Home.

I have arrived, but still haven't made the POD people budge. They still insist they are busy and and can not deliver mine until next Tuesday. The Squatter is leaving, slowly. The house is fairly empty, but the garages and driveway are not. Two windows are broken, and D. and N. rooms need to be repainted or at least fixed up.

Want to reach us? Call my parents house...

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Almost there...

Still working hard. Leaving for CT tomorrow, for a week. Squatters seem to be moving out, but I think I screwed up - I called the POD people, and they say they CANNOT get the PODS to my house until next Tuesday. Arghh...I will beg tomorrow.

Sunday, June 28, 2009

Prayers...

We should pray for the oldest one. You know that moment of doubt - when work is hard, and you're far from (what was) home. And all alone-ish. And it all sinks in? Yeah, been there over and over lately. But it will pass - and maybe, maybe, he'll have a greater awareness that he's not alone.

We could pray for my squatters - that they leave my house, in a timely manner. And in good shape, so we can reload that house this weekend.

And my DS - that THE Job finally arrives...And then all the changes that that would entail.

And that we would remember to appreciate all of those who are reaching out to help.

Saturday, June 27, 2009

One more wasted weekend.

Running down errands, looking for my lost jacket (left on airplane), Schedule the PODS for tentative arrival, and bills.

I arrive Wednesday late afternoon, will look through the house to figure out if we need a Dumpster or a cleaning service. Figured we get the house PODS on the street, hopefully delivered Friday or Saturday, and see if the third POD will fit in the backyard.

Also wondering where the camper will live.

Stupid Motorcycle journey..

Spent fathers day away. Decided to take out the bike to fill at least part of the day. Got it out Saturday, wiring the cigarette lighter - so I can use the Garmin. And today packed the backpack, and set out toward Oshkosh, hoping there'd be a cute town with party boat fishing on Lake Geneva. Forgot how boring riding on the bike on the highway was. Backpack fell out of straps at first light, almost got it run over by a car behind me. Put it on and got on Rt. 45 going north, rode about 1/2 hour (56 miles on the odometer) and the bike caughed twice and stopped. Realized I couldn't push it back to the previous exit. Started walking with my helmet in hand, made it about two miles and a father and son pulled up and drove me to the gas station. The guy was nice, and commented that I must have used up the reserve (duh, I forgot to flip the switch). Got gas, rode back and drove on to Fond du Lac - cute town, drove to a nice park with a mini-train and a merry-go-round. It started raining, so checked with a bait store (no party boats) and rode back to the storage unit. I switched back to the car, and traced the cigarette lighter (scotch-locs hadn't worked) and it blew the in-line fuse and the one in the garmin adapter.

Good Times...Good Times...

Saturday, June 20, 2009

Weekend...

1) Office insisted on a department outing, but consultants don't get paid on outings...But it was impressed upon me that as part of our "work/life balance" we should get out and do fun team things. Ironically, then, I didn't earn half a days pay, so I could meet some co-workers, who bugged out to be with their families.

2) Now a weekend in Wisconsin. Hoping my family takes this opportunity to reconnect with Pack #3 at their end of year picnic.

3) Don't know how to thank my parents enough for coming out to pack my house and drive my family home. Happy Fathers Day, Kenny!

Thursday, June 18, 2009

Journey's End - for some

They've arrived safely in Torrington. Staying with my in-laws...

Lawyer called as well - spoke to one of the squatters, They told him the house would be empty on the 30th. We will need to gauge the required cleaning, prior to having the PODS delivered. So we seem to be on schedule for my arrival, from 7/1 - 7/7.

Department took the afternoon off, for a road rally and sandwiches. It was nice, talked to a couple of co-workers. Came in last in the scavenger hunt, though.

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

EO-Wednesday Update

The caravan weathered heavy rains in Ohio, but has arrived in State College, Pa. They get to see my nieces and newest nephew.

They leave tomorrow morning, and finally arrive in Ct. in the afternoon.

No news on the squatters today.

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Intra-Tuesday Post

Butterscotch and his entourage have arrived in CT - and are driving Umpa's new truck to Winsted. That would be D. and Bunga.

All three PODS are on there way, as is Umpa, S., and N. were in the Camper and C. was driving the Durango. Last update, still not in Madison, and planning to sleeps just over the line in Ind.

The local (empty) POD was also removed today - All we couldn't deal with was about four bags of garbage in the garage. Kim will drag out the full cans, and hopefully refill them for the next week.

In bigger news, the camper sale (obviously) fell through. But in bigger news the bank approved the short sale offer on the ER house.

Pod People Redux

So my Dad has been packing and stuffing and repacking since Thursday. Bunga and S. have working very hard as well - S. especially so. Picnic with the Millers, the Hewitts came over last night. Almost done - then the Cat, D. and Bunga fly East, and Umpa, Cindy, S, N, and Logan (my basset) drive east in the RV and the Durango. I go back to work.

What an ordeal. N. and Cindy will probably make the Pack 3 end of year picnic...S. will arrive for work Sunday at Workcoeman.

Saturday, June 13, 2009

Big Weekend...

I've arrived in Minn. for the last time - My parents have been working for two days, and we'll plow through most of the heavy lifting tomorrow.

Work was Yucky yesterday, and I left my most important jacket on the plane -Broke my cows udder coffee cup for C. in the airport...Busy day. It's a test.

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Moving on out...

Bunga and Umpa arrived and started working...There is a lead on the RV, I sent in the paperwork on the SS, life is very complicated.

Monday, June 8, 2009

Wi. Updates

Other two PODs delivered, Packing continues - Bunga and Umpa arrive this week. I get back Friday night. We are praying for His Will, concerning 502 Prospect St. More to follow.

Monday, June 1, 2009

POD People

Having first delivered tomorrow - so we can offload the local pod into the new pod. The other two will arrive on the 8th, giving us more time to fill them.

Saturday, May 30, 2009

Our Milwaukee Tour

Visited a cool store - American Surplus and Supply - lots of neat stuff, Then down to the lakefront, walked around between the Discovery museum and the Art museum. After walking around we went for a picnic in Wirth Park in Brookfield....

Friday, May 29, 2009

A Moving Update...

Called PODS.COM - They came close enough to the U-Haul quote, that we are going to let them drive our stuff east. It means a few changes:
1 - Drop of first box 6/9 - so we can offload and return the local box in the driveway
2 - Drop off other two boxes 6/12
3 - Will pick up all three 6/15 to deliver on or after 6/22
4 - We can drop off Bunga/Dave/Butterscotch Tuesday
5 - and caravan the Durango and probably the RV back to CT.

They can store our stuff, if our Home is still unavailable. We should also have the opportunity to clean and prepare the house.

This week in Wisc.

1) Family is coming out to Wisconsin this weekend. Rented a bigger room, now to figure out what we'll do - thinking Jelly Belly factory tour, Milwaukee Zoo, would have gone to a Brewers game but it's pretty booked up.

2) Three weeks until we're out of Minnesota. Grew to love the landscape - but it was pretty flat. Great sunsets as well - and I like wild rice. Will miss ERUMC and the half dozen families we grew close to.

3) Anyone want to buy an RV? We have an offer on the Minnesota House - but would welcome a better offer. And need to move out our squatters in CT (they're not renters, so....)

a List

http://rulesformyunbornson.tumblr.com/

I don't often post lists - But I like this one, a set of thoughts to be past on to your boys....

Updates...

1) D.'s party was a success, Wings, Star wars movies, sword fights - an average 13 year old's sleepover.
2) S. is working, yardwork.
3) There is an offer on the Mn. House! And another showing tonight.
4) Picnic tonight(3pm), Picnic Tomorrow(2pm), Picnic Monday.
5) The eviction problem drags on. Umpa went as my agent to court, and the clerk wouldn't speak to him. Went to get a power of atty. letter done at the bank - and needed two of my own witnesses! So the professional route is next.

Running out of time though... Three weeks to shipping out.

Big news - S. is working at Camp Workcoeman this summer!

Mid-Week

Went to Miller Park last night, saw the Brewers take on the Marlins. Lots of homers, and better pitching late. Still need to deal with the squatters, and motivating the Minnesotans to pack. Need to take the next steps with the Bantam Courthouse for the House.

Rumors of THE DE job becoming available, but I can't take it without some help - can not live on that salary alone.

No worries Dad.
And most importantly - Birthdays Ahoy! Dinner at Forest Gumps in MOA Friday night.

News - NEWS!

So, we've reserved a pair of 26' trucks from UHaul for June 15th. We will fill them, and drive them and the Durango back to Torrington. This depends on the Prospect St. house being empty and available by them.

I expect to fly from Millwaukee to Minneapolis, pack, drive and unpack in CT - and fly back to Milwaukee. The job in Kohls is going well, I feel I'm doing a good job, but don't see a permenant position soon enough - so off goes the family.

Rushmore wrapup

The trip was great - The camper is now empty and for sale at National Auto and RV, 6845 Rt. 10, Ramsey, MN.
Easter was very different with no other family, but we stayed in Rapid City, SD. which was probably the nicest Holiday Inn, I've ever seen.
We visited the Corn Palace,
Ellsworth AFB,
Wall Drug,
Stomped in the Black Hills,
Toured Rushmore,

and swam in the pool (like 5 times).

Short Week..

Yea - working a short week. We'll spend Easter in South Dakota, we will visit Mt. Rushmore and some other stuff.

April 2 - Post Target

So now I'm working a contract for Kohls - living from Sunday night to Friday morning outside of Milwaukee, Wisc. The Minnesota house is listed, and being shown.

Next week, Easter, the family is going to Mt. Rushmore. Then the RV probably goes on the market as well. It has been a great toy, the best travel vehicle I've ever owned. But the money (assuming it sells) would pay for the move back east.

It's official, I am now no longer a Target Employee - No more discount.

The Boys, Logan and I wandered around the Elk River GS Camp today -It looks like a great place for our Cub Camp, June 10-12. I have significant doubts about our ability to participate, but will have it all laid out - Schedules, Maps, Staffing...

Back to the Cheeseheads

I fly back to Chicago now - and will shuttle from Midway to O'Hare to get my car, and then drive to Milwaukee. Hopefully my mood will improve. Next I drive back - and can decide what to shuttle back and forth. The Durango returned - sounds ok, a little different, needs a check engine light scoped. Camper is back out of the way.

New Gig

I have arrived in Menomonee Fall, Wi - This is the third time in the last four years I've needed to move away from the family. Will drive to O'Hare Airport Friday to fly home, and fly back Sunday night. I was checking out a bus serves to get there - it's $10 cheaper to drive.

Lot's more to say - but I'm not leaving a paper trail.

House Listed...

House in Elk River is listed for a short sale. Job Postponed until Tuesday. Went home to Torrington for funeral - all things considered, was a great trip. Funeral was good, saying goodbye. Harmony Baptist always feels like home, with all Umpas family there. More to follow...

Not Waiting...

Evelyn/Nanna went home to be with her heavenly father this morning. Services will be at Harmony Baptist this weekend. We are finding flights and weighing our options for getting out there.

Logan is at the Kennel, Butterscotch is cared for.

Still Waiting

Nanna M. has stopped striving, and is drifting off. I had bought tickets to visit her for today, but we decided she was coherent enough for a visit to be worthwhile. Now we wait, and ponder how we will all travel east - probably by camper.

The new job looms on the horizon as well - but the nitty gritty details are still a mystery. I booked a room at the extended stay suites (great rate) nearby. I also booked a roundtrip plane home for that weekend.

Met with the new DE today, that was good. I have concerns with how we will be able to support the wolf howl this weekend, and Camp this summer...But I may have found a volunteer for day camp.

I did go to S. parent/teacher conferences today - they all setup in the gym and you walk from teacher to teacher...He's doing very well. C. went to D.'s conferences.

Setting up Facebook

So we are on Facebook (me & C.), Twitter, and this...

Waiting

1) Pray for Kevin and Cami, and Nanna and Lorance

2) Waiting for the new contract to kick in...And for me to drive across Wisc. I start 3/16. Will be nice to double dip - but it's not enough to keep us in the house in Minnesota, so the plan is still to sell out and move back to CT when school ends.

3) We get the Durango back Tuesday - with its new engine.

4) Need to talk to new DE (Monday) about Wolf Howl, and about Day Camp (in light of new job).

5) Thinking of (praying about) a quick trip back to CT. to visit with Nanna while it is still possible.

Wisc. Update

Returned the contract for 6 months in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Ironically -there is another offer in Montreal for a better rate, but for 4 months. Got to go with the one in hand.

It is not enough to change the bigger plan - the Minn. House will still be listed, and we still plan to return to Ct.

Heck - assuming Cindy's certifications work better there, I would much rather work for the Ct. Rivers Council Boy Scouts.

News

An offer (1 year in WI) different retail outfit. Regretfully not enough to stay in Minn.

Duluth - The Edge

1) The waterpark was nice, walking the Canal Park was good, dinner at Hells Kitchen was good as well.
2) got a call - Cam Sensor in Durango might be all that's wrong. But we'll see. Took the car up there, stopped to get gas, and a car wash (which didn't work) and flipping back the mirror, it snapped off. Crap!
3) Call from the Accountant - Said I didn't withhold for Minn. from my 401k... Unbelieveable - Huge - Unfixable problem.
4) Went up to Split Rock and Twin Harbors, then drove home.
5) Sunday is Choir directing (C), Sunday School (K), get Logan, the Blue & Gold (All), Choir (D) & a Youth Group Wii Tourney...

This Week

1) Durango engine has died, took it to a shop this morning. Got halfway then needed to call AAA. Still seems cost effective to fix.

2) Pulled out the Camper, scratched it on the storage unit. Needed it because we needed 7 seats for our trip to the North shore this weekend. Then Bunga called and canceled - due to Nana's continued troubles. Still intending to go up to Duluth.

3) Spoke to the Connecticut Scout Council office - They have an opening for me! Many things would have to fall in to place, but if money was not an issue- it would be a neat opportunity.

4) Interview with Perot Systems tomorrow evening - short term contract.

Hope helps

So now I have a few leads. Had a second (short, screening) interview with another retailer (rhymes with holes). In the mixed emotions department, a friend from NASDAQ got the contract to work at Mayo - It will be nice to see her. It was strange that I didn't get an interview.

Nanna fell and broke her hip, and had surgery Tuesday. Lorance seemed to be in more pain as well.

The big boys and I went to Glenwood,MN., a Scout fishing Derby Saturday and Sunday. We caught nothing and slept in the High School- but it was fun.

News! News! (but not good news)

I was laid off today - But the Lord provides, we won't starve. But we have so much to decide. It was a great experience, and a good place to work.

This Weekend

C. and I went to the Annual Wood Badge Breakfast Saturday morning. It was ok - There must have been over 150 Scouters, with 400 knots . S. and D. went with the Church group to Afton Alps for a day of Skiing/Snowboarding. N. had a game at 8, another at 10 and photos at 12. He had yet another game this morning.

I took my class out to Perkins this morning - It was good but complicated by the fact that half were in choir and sang for the 9:30 and the 11:00. In the end we missed being back on time for the 11:00.

Bunga and Umpa booked their flights for the end of next month.

The CT house will be listed for sale shortly The Washington Agency will probably be the agent - They're going to look around this week.

Ice fishing next week - Lake Minnetonka with some guys from work, and possibly Green Lake on Sunday.

And I've given in and started maintaining the Twitter account I setup.

New Year...

Yesterday we an odd day - I woke to the Zunepacolypse. The solution was to run the battery dry and reboot it after 7am this morning. Started work on relisting the Torrington house, and getting the non-paying tenants out or on-board. When I walked out to the car in Garage B, it was broken into and the Garmin was gone.

Spent the evening with the K.'s (N. best friends family) It was nice we fondued things, did a little wii, and watched robbie knevel.

The M. (N. other best friends family) came over for dinner - Logan was underfoot. Food was good, and a good time was had by all.

Nanna and Lorance are moved in to their apt. in Winsted. Bunga and her posse did a masterful job - and we called the new number today. Boy - Lorance sounds good, on the phone.
